YAY for the good Canadian children!

YAY for the good Canadian children who were dressed for the weather and got to school today😄. Although we were inside all day and the long range forecast says we will be for awhile the moment we have a window of opportunity we will take it and get outside to move and breathe fresh air!  Please ensure that your student has all that they own to put on everyday.

We start swimming on Wednesday this week and we talked this morning during our morning meeting that that means in the backpack there will be a towel, swimsuit/underwear, a brush or comb and a bag to put the wet things in.  We will snack before we leave for the pool so a little bigger healthy snack might be in order and then return in time for lunch.  A little bigger lunch might be in order too.

During sticker math this morning we talked about all the things a person could do to help themselves solve a math problem.  Once the numbers have been circled, the question underlined, and important words boxed the question becomes what are they asking me to do?  What do I already know? What can I do now?  In part, the answer is draw a picture.  Get out the tools (blocks, number line, hundreds chart) that will help to solve.  In an effort to eliminate students who sit and wait for the answer to fall into their laps I am encouraging them to use some strategies.  Ask your student if they were able to solve sticker math this morning.
