Simple Lines

All art starts with lines and we can create lots of things with simple lines.  After watching, 'Harold and the Purple Crayon' this morning we created 15 different kinds of lines that we can use in our drawing.  We made zig zags, spirals, loops, wavy (we noted that we use a lot of these lines in our handwriting! Great connection between activities😀) and then we took our line for a walk and created organic shapes that we filled in with other kinds of lines.

The Magic School Bus flew through here this morning in the episode, Battle for Rock Mountain. The students in her class were learning about the three kinds of rocks - igneous, sedimentary and metamorphic.  Coincidence because that is what we are doing!!  We talked about what we already knew about the rock cycle and the three types of rocks and then we added the information that was new from Ms. Frizzle.  We are getting set to write our own book about the rock cycle.  Perhaps, Magic School Bus style!

We are beginning to set goals for student/teacher/parent conferences next week.  Every one already has writing goals that they can talk about and we will also have a reading goal, math goal and wellness goal that will be the foundation for our discussion together.  Please make sure you book an on-line appointment.
