3 Ways to read a book

In a backpack near you there is a Digital Citizenship form for you and your little learner to sign.  Today we talked about what a digital citizen looks like and who they are.  Students need to return their form to me before the can use any technology at school.

We have been busy this week becoming readers and writers.  One of the discoveries we made was that there is 3 ways to read a book.

1.  Read the pictures - look at the pictures and think about what is happening

2. Read the words - read the words on the page and think about what is happening in the book.  Ask questions when you don't understand.

3.  Retell the story - using the pictures and the words we remember to think about what is happening.

Grade 3 students should be reading 20 minutes a day at home by themselves and 10 minutes a day to someone else.  Practise, practise, practise.

See you Tuesday!
