Today we were sorting Key Information from Irrelevant Information - determining what is important and what isn't can be a daunting task. We look to the text to see if there were bold words, a heading or something in the index to help us make sense of the information.
Ask your little learner about their personal memory bag. Yesterday we drew the memory bag of Shi-Shi-Etko that she prepared as she was going away to residential school. Today we drew our own memory bag and put in it things we would want to take with us from home. We noticed that everything Shi-Shi-Etko took with her was from the land (flowers, pinecone) and everything we packed in our bags were material items.
