Bridge Project - homework

The fire department visited us this afternoon.  With lights and sirens.  The fire bell was pulled by little fingers as we were all coming in from lunch.  Our students did a great job of evacuating the building, we had had a fire drill just before lunch and we all know what to do.  But, this brings up the conversation of only using the fire bell in emergencies.  As a class we talked about all those trucks and fire fighters responding to our emergency call when there was no need and someone else having a real emergency and not able to get help.  Please reinforce this message at home.  Perhaps a good time to review your family evacuation plan.

In a backpack near you is a little letter outlining our bridge project that is due Thursday, June 20.  This is a great activity and I hope you enjoy the process with your learner.  I would highly recommend you start sooner rather than later as there is some trial and error involved.  Keep in mind this should use items around the house - not involve a shopping trip!
