SNOTS

We are applying what we know about the six geographical regions of Alberta to an art project!  We are using six different mediums (pastel, water colour, charcoal etc) for each region.  When it is complete we will have a mosaic of Alberta to share with you.  We also started looking at some of the animals that live in Alberta with a lesson on annotating today.  Using the acronym SNOTS we wrote on our reading.  SNOTS stands for Small Notes On the Side - so today we marked up our animal reading with ? and ! and * to show our thinking while reading.  Tomorrow we will read again and make jot notes about our animal so we can create a descriptive piece  of writing.

We were so busy today!!  The grade 3 began perhaps the most anticipated grade 3 outcome of all, multiplication.  We begin by looking at the rows and columns of an array and writing repeated addition sentences to match the picture then write the multiplication fact.  Grade 3 were keen and are completing an I Spy activity to demonstrate their understanding of an array.  Meanwhile, grade 4 were finishing up their first round of multiplication and sorting numbers.
